Second new master - leaks.

So much for paying more for better quality. Bought my Corvette master cylinder from Pirate Jack. Now it leaks past the piston. Haven't even used it yet. Just mounted it and filled the system with fluid.

And since I live in Norway, freigth costs will probably be to high to make it worth returning it.

This is my second new master that leaks this way. Is it something that I do wrong? I cant believe the push rod is pushing to one side, since it is fastened in the booster? (I have power brakes).

Why not pull it apart and see if there is a nick on the neoprene cup or some debris. These so called Corvette MC have been a problem for a couple guys I know. Turns out that a lot of these "new" parts are either rebuilt or of Far East manufacture. A good friend has an older 'vette, a '79 that he uses as a daily driver in the summer, and he is on his 3rd or 4th MC within the past year.

I know you are in Norway, but you might look at Rock Auto Parts here and maybe consider a rebuild kit. I recommended these folks to a guy in Switzerland a couple weeks ago and he was able to order parts for international shipping. No clue on what the final cost was but it is an option. Also - rebuild kits are in the 20-25 USD range.

I tried the Pirate Jack website and it kept kicking me out

You are having no end of brake problems with this car

Thanks for your input.
What makes this issue extra irritating is the masters 90 degree, hidden position behind the dash. Very hard to work on.
That's not Pirate Jack's fault, of course, but it makes it difficult to go on with the dash and interior work when I know I have to replace the master.

I sent a mail to Pirate Jack's about it. I'll wait and see what they suggest.

A follow up on this one.

Pirate Jack's offered a new MC sent to me -in Norway - and with freight cost covered!
That's what I call good customer service!

It is installed it and everything looks fine.
