Secondary leak

Ok, after some helpful advise from my previous post "351w Fast idle", I have confirmed it is due to secondaries not sealing completely. I know I can swap base plates (I have a spare), but is there a way to salvage this one? Is there an adjustment I am looking over? The reason is this one has been reman'd and plated to look perfect and I would hate to offset that.

Make the platers aren't bent or warped out of shape. Make sure the secondary shaft is centered correctly and check for grooves in the hole where the secondary plates rest.

i just recently had similar problems with my carb. secondaries hanging open. i took the secondary shaft out and cleaned it up with light emery cloth. it was also slightly bent. seems to be moving freely now. took me 45mins to an hour. might be worth a try to swap secondary shafts only.
good luck,
