I started sanding today. And I did a small area all the way through final buffing just to make sure the sanding grits and polishing compounds I'm using would give me the shine and depth I wanted. Now I'm back to basically doing all the sanding first. Then I'll go over everything with the polishing and buffing work.

I know that the general rule of thumb is not to use sandpaper any more aggressive than 1000, but I've had to go at the worst of my orange peel with 800. Obviously I'm being pretty careful with that and staying totally away from edges. But it seems to be working fine so far. I have three pretty healthy coats of clear so I'm keeping my fingers crossed this will be enough to prevent me from sanding through anywhere.
