And if you install the tach with your shift point straight up (even if that means the tach is close to "upside down") then you can just hit the next gear when the needle points up and you don't even have to read the numbers at all!
Yeah, can get a tach with a shift light to tell you when to shift, don't need to look at the needle or the numbers... looking at eBay, 5" 'monster size' tach with shift lite start about $29.95...
I know which one I am going to select its column mount, but question I have steering column lock . Will that afffect the tachomter being installed on the steering column?
You have to clamp the tach on part of the steering column that does not move or tilt, and on some columns there isn't that much room to fit the clamp behind the key/lock area. You also want it mounted out of the way of the column lock so its easier to turn the key. In many cases its easier to put the tach on top, or at about the 10 o'clock position on the left side. It will just take some experimentation to see what works.
