Selecting transmission for '52 Chevy Pickup build.
I have a '52 3/4 ton I'm rebuilding. I have a 292 on it's way to get rebuilt. I am picking up a 60 camaro rear end with 4.10 gears. Now I need to find a 3 spd transmission that will linke up with the 3 on the tree. My question is about what type of gear ratio I should look for. I'm completely in the dark when it comes to transmissions. Any help much appreciated. This won't be a drag truck by any means but I would like it to be a good daily driver and have some get up and go when I want it to. Thank you.

Yup they can only be found in North Dakota lol. I guess I hit the "0" instead of the "9". It's a rear end out of a '69 Camaro because it is the same width as my stock one.

A good ball park would be 3.73s or 3.55s and a trans with a 2.50-2.80 1st gear ratio
The closer to '3.0' your 1st gear gets, you start to lose some strength; however a 2.80 1st means you could run an axle ratio as low as a 3.23 and still have plenty of take off |

Thank you for that information. Here is what I have found and I would like to grab one but am not sure which one would work best for me. Saginaw 3 Spd There is also one that is 254-150. |
