Is this sequence correct?

I plan on painting my first car soon and I made a list of the steps in which to do things and i would just like to have someone make sure they are correct. Well here goes

1. Sand and fix dents with filler
2. Apply epoxy primer and scuff
3. Apply primer ( what is the sandable kind?) sand the car
4. Use a guidecoat where dents were fixed and sand as needed
5. apply sealer
6. apply basecoat/cc
7. cut and buff

Thanks guys i just want a list to go buy so i cand do all the stages correctly

Basically correct. Do a search on the topic on this board. It has been covered in great detail. Would probably require 20 or 30 pages of posts to duplicate the info.

Will you be stripping this car to bare metal or just painting over the existing finish?

I suggest you read the "Basics of Basics" series of posts at the top of the body exterior forum. These were written by a very experienced custom body and paint professional and should answer most if not all your questions.

In short you have pretty much everything in the correct order. However, if you are going to strip the car to bare metal you should use the epoxy primer first before repairing the dents with filler. The filler will stick to the scuffed epoxy just fine and the epoxy will protect fhe bare metal from rusting.
