Hey guys, so looks like I ended up with a singer 211. Looking to swap the clutch motor for a servo. I noticed from doing a search on this forum that people recommend the reliable sewquiet 3000. They don't appear to make those any more, only the 5000 which seems more expensive. Any thoughts on the following?

Yes, the Consew servo is half the motor that the SewQuiet 5000 is. I did a lot of research before buying my first servo motor. I have two Sew Quiet 3000s and one 4000, and none of them has had as much as a hiccup in all the time I've owned them. The 5000 is an improved version of the 4000, and I think they want $199.00 for it with free shipping at Allbrands.com. All servo motors are not the same. I sew for a living, and I want something that is going to work. I wouldn't buy anything else, but what you buy is up to you.

I bought the Consew motor because the price was good, $100 including shipping. The variable speed is very sensitive, similar to my Juki clutch motor. I put a longer arm on it and a smaller pulley which has made it acceptable but I would try the sewquiet if I were buying another.

there are good ones out there around $125....Consew has taken a real hit the last 5 years as all operations now in China. The 4000 is fantastic and I guess can't go wrong for $200

If there are good ones out there for $125, what are the brands and model numbers? I'm not against saving money, I'm only reporting on what has worked well for me personally.
A lot of these motors may be called "servo" motors, but a true servo motor is a constant torque device with infinite speed control throughout the entire speed range. In other words, the less you push on the foot pedal, the slower the motor goes, all the way down to zero, and the more you push on the foot pedal, the faster the motor goes, all the way up to the motor's top speed. If the motor does not have that ability, it's not a true servo. The Consew servo does not have that ability.

How is the 5000 better than the 4000?

The 5000 is 3/4 hp, is brushless, has variable speed with LED readout, and has a built in AC outlet on the back to plug in your sewing table light.

I bought the 5000. Should be arriving tomorrow so I'll have all weekend to sort it out and I'll definitely post impressions. I'm pairing it to a singer 211 so should work great.
