set pinion out of car

I know I need to set my pinion between 2/4* can I set it out of the car?

hey you got to get your rearend all lined up underneath to your pinion then tack weld your perches for the leaf springs on then pull the rearend out and do a full weld on them but be careful with welding them you don't want to warp the metal hope that helps

You can not set the pinion angle outside the car. The pinion angle must be set with the rear end mounted and weight on the wheels.

you both are right. I set it out and then put it in and it was off at lest 4*. glad I did not weld yet.
