May be a silly question but could vinyl that has been heat pleated be sewn on the heat pleat to make it look like it is an actual sewn pleat? I have access to a fairly nice and reasonably priced set of covers that were custom made to fit my stock seats that are installed with hog rings not cheapy Wally Word type stretch to "fit". Just think the heat pleats look a little cheezy.

If this will work could they be sewn with a standard home style garment type sewing machine? Would the thickness of the heat pleat make it difficult for the home machince to handle?

Yes, you could possibly sew the dielectric pleat but you end up with a weakened dielectric pleat with thread on it.

No, the home sewing machine won't touch it..

Bob is absolutely right. The home sewing machine won't handle the thickness or the larger thread you would need to sew the pleats with, and you could weaken the pleat.

I sew some heat sealed vinyl pleating that had stitching molded in to line to look like it had been stitched,but I lost the link,maybe some one can find it or know were that type can be got

Spradling makes 3 vinyl patterns that are pleated with 1 1/2" pleats. The patterns are Allegro, Flotilla II and Seabreeze. You would need to find an upholstery shop to order it for you.

The problem is that it's very pricey.
