While they do make regular lockstitch sewing machines, Union Special (who were bought out by Juki) specializes in chain stitch machines. These can be as simple as a single needle machine that can sew two pieces of fabric together, this machine is a multi needle chain stitch machine that does decorative stitches. If I'm reading the specs correctly, this machine would act more like a serger. It would be more suited to one dedicated operation in a clothing or drapery factory. It would not be used to sew car interiors.
