Sewing a seatbelt
2 Attachment(s)
I had to torch out a bolt that holds my seatbelt to the floor so I could spray my bed liner ( I wish I had just taped it off now, but thats spilt milk) I have searched everywhere for one and im not having an ounce of luck. When I got the bright idea, it was sewn from the factory why cant I just cut off the burnt part (1 1/2" which wont effect the belt or retractor I dont think and in the worst case It would be a bit tighter but not enought to notice)
Im not saying id sew this myself, but can an upholstry shop do this?? Looking at the thread it looks heavy duty obviously, any one have an idea for me???

Yes, of course you can cut off 1 1/2" of seat belt and get it re- sewed. Most people don't know what the DOT specs for sewing seat belt webbing are. Seat belts must be sewed with size 138 bonded nylon sewing thread. Just have them copy the pattern the original was sewed with.

I figured someone here would know something like that! Thanks

BTW, you are losing 4" of seat belt, not 1 1/2", but that's still not going to be noticeable unless you are a very, very big person.
