I too have a transfer case identification problem.
I have a 1970 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40.
It has a GM straight six. I think it is a 250.
I'm pretty sure they never put GM motors in Land Cruisers.
I have no idea what kind of transmission it has so I know nothing about the transfer case either.
The Tranny is a 3 speed and it has a low range lever under the dash.
It has manual locking hubs.
The parking brake line goes into the transfer case right at the end. It tucks in just in front of a large harmonic ballancer-looking thing that is attached to the yoke holding the drive shaft to the rear.
I have been told that a vibration and noise I am hearing is an output shaft bearing going bad. So I am trying to identify the exact model I have so I can get some repair tips and some parts.

I have several picture of the unit but I am uncertain how to post them on a forum. I will try photobucket to host and see if that works.

Any Ideas??
Thanks
_Bill
