Man I tell you what bro, I have one of those things, and used it allot for small repairs etc.. worked great, and I mean great, then one day it will no longer seal at the tip...I have cleaned it every which way etc... still wont seal... IMO and it is my opinion I think Sharpe makes not soo good of guns... I know some use them and like them, but after being away from this business for many years, I am quickly remembering how "expensive" good quality tools are a must.... Maybe we can put the two of ours together and make one decent gun for a while... ..

and yes they were recalled because they kept leaking and would not seal... found this out after I had bought the dang thing.. Sorry to hear about your troubles, nothing worse than equipment that fails on ya

Where the tip of the needle seats inside ... It leaks around there and wont stop... It is more annoying than anything... The guns still sprays ok, just hisses all the time..

I got one as well. Mine hissed at the get go and returned it for another. It's sprayed well so far.Who know's how long.
Sputtering is usually the nozzel not sealing to the gun properly.Or paint too thick but that's on a siphon gun usually.
Does it bubble back into the cup?
My old siphon touch up got worn at the nozzel/gun connection and would only work right if I tightened the piss out of it. That bevel seal on the nozzel got worn out and the only fix was a new one.
It's a good possiability that the white gasket just need's replacing as I believe that's what seals the nozzel. I'll look when I get home to see.

I just get the cheap one's and toss when they quit anymore.

Mine does not bubble back through the cup, but I have seen gravity fed guns do this before as well...

I looked mine over and this gun does not use a gasket to seal the nozzle,it's a bevel mechanical metal/metal seal as well. Overtightining is the BIG problem with these types as you distort the "seal" area with distortion or "grinding" the 2 together and eating away the proper contact area. When this happens,it's impossible to correct this as you can replace the nozzle but the gun bevel is part of the housing which is not replaceable as far as I know.
It will only bubble in the cup when it sputters,so you may not be noticing it all the time.Usually though, it does this constantly but I have had mine do this on a inconsistent basis with the paint sealing the gap for periods.
The other problem would be the O ring for the needle but you should notice it hissing and paint running down the gun.
It's possible that the cup bleed hole is clogged. This will let the gun spray good then gradually quit spraying paint then after fiddling with it do the same thing again driving you nut's as to WHY.You create a vacuum in the cup as you paint which cause less material to come thru then fiddle with it opening the cup and so forth and then it paints good for a short time then quit's again.
And, There is the obvious, simple solution. You got a piece of "something" in the gun you have not seen floating around screwing flow up. I found a piece of metal in my LPH that I never noticed until I broke it down and REALLY looked it over.
