Post Shave Doors

I am 16 and restoring my first car, and loving every minute of it. It is a 64 lane, I would like to shave the doors, I have read a thread on here about it. The thing is that I dont want it electronic, I read about a cable running through the firewall. I would like to know how I can do this. The thread kinda died out at the point and I would like to know. Any information would be great.
P.S. Great site

FOTW your going to have to have an electronic door popper to get in the car unless you rig up a manual one. Its alot easier to have an electronic popper, but if your hearts set on a manual one its pretty easy to hook up, just a pain to use. you could do many other things rather than just a basic shave. If your going to have completely shaved door handles you will need a door popper. Tell me your plans for the car and I can give you some cooler ideas if you like, or I could give you a how to on how to shave the door handles and you can go with the manual door popper.

I forgot about the popper, I really dont have my heart set on anything. I like the look of the shaved doors, so I am open to all ideas. I have priced the electronic ones about 50 bucks or so, but I like to find other ways of doing thing. Hard to explain but that is how I am. Like I said though open to all and any ideas at this point.

Shaved handles, hide-a-handles and newer flush replacements as well as anything else you could think of is a possibility. Manual shaved openers are just a basic cable and handle mounted usually in the wheel well. Hide-a-handles are the collest I think, they are always original and are way cool because they are creative rather than the basic shave and pop. let me know what you decide to go with and I'll be happy to help.

Precisely what the name states, you hide the handle. Like hide it in body trim or your mirror perch or anywhere else you can think of. Its only limited to your imagination.

How would I go about doing it? Sounds really interesting. Is it hard to do? My car is a 4 door sedan, would it make sence to shave the back and hind the front? I have played around with the idea of making it a 2 door. Would this make sence? I knwo how to do this, my friends had done it but he did it wrong he forgot to weld the hings also so the weld cracked. Anyways thanks for the imformation so far. Are there kits or is it store bough things that I would pick up

No Hide-a-handle's are stricly custom and require lots of work and fabrication. Its simple if you have the tools, knowledge and will to do it. Its not easy by any means, but its a simple idea, just envolves alot of fabrication. If your really up for it and I do mean very serious about it tell me where you would put them and I'll tell you how to do it through a step by ste how-to.
I like quadra ports, don't try and make it a 2 door. Your friend actually didn't do it right nor was the welding hinges idea correct. Those two are just examples of a "quicky" job. It might work, but its not the right way to do it, theres alot more involved. I say hide all 4 handles and just make the car look as cool as possible. there are alot of really cool quadra ports.

Very weird the site jsut crashed.. anyways the only 2 places that I could think about putting it was the chrome emblems or under the car. Are there other place that I could put it. The side view is another idea but none on the back. So would you explain how to do those to places. And yes I am serious about it. I have been trying to find something out about this sence I got the car *(last July) but with no GOOD results

If you have body trim thats the most logical place. Most body trim runs the entire length of the car. If you don't have it making it would be your second option. Send me an e-mail and I'll help you out. e-mail in profile.
