shaved door handles

I'm going to shave the door handles off of my 53 Buick--but i really dont want to mess with power openers, how do you do it the old school way?

you can either leave your window down so you can open the door from the outside, or wire a hidden remote switch to the door solenoid that you can access from the outside.

The old way is to use a starter solenoid and make them from scratch.

I'd be curious as to how the starter solenoids were made into pull solenoids.
