Shaved door Question

Hi,

I would like to install a shaved door kit in my 37 Dodge. The Dodge has a flat horizontal bar that pulls the latch horizontally. The tech guy at the company that I purchased it from suggested I use a pulley so the cable can go around the pulley then go down to the solenoid. The problem that I may have is there is a possibility that the cable could inter fer with the window. The door has no window yet.

Has anyone used this kind of setup? Can the emergency door release be used? Are there any specially made kits for a horizontal application.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Sam

I did mine with bicycle brake cable mounting the solenoid in the bottom of the door.

The solenoid and cable asm.

At the latch.

I used 45lb solenoids after having serious meltdown problems with 15lb´ers.

Cable corrosion can cause binding.

Thanks for the reply, but I need to know how someone did a pulley type system for the horizontal pull.

Thanks

Okay so mine pulls vertically down, by making some brackets you could adapt the same cable principle to horizontal.
It would also be easy to route the cable away from moving parts and your window.
A pulley system would require that everything lines up, a cable like mine can be as long or short as required and solenoid to doorlatch offset.
