I did mine with bicycle brake cable mounting the solenoid in the bottom of the door.
The solenoid and cable asm. At the latch. I used 45lb solenoids after having serious meltdown problems with 15lb´ers. ![]() Cable corrosion can cause binding.

Okay so mine pulls vertically down, by making some brackets you could adapt the same cable principle to horizontal.
It would also be easy to route the cable away from moving parts and your window. A pulley system would require that everything lines up, a cable like mine can be as long or short as required and solenoid to doorlatch offset. |
