shaved doors ?
I have a shaved door kit installed on my '48 Buick, the driver door solenoid has become too weak to release the door latch. the pass. side is OK. What the heck happens to these solenoid to make them weak? Do they get internal shorts or am I doing something wrong? this is the second time this has happened to my car, I know the driver door gets the most play but this is all in less than a few months. So far I have tried two different manufactures. Who has a good solenoid that will last? Thanks.....

What brands have you already tried? How many pounds of pull are they?

shaved doors
Well the car came to me with some 'no-name" 15 lb. solenoids, they worked ok untill I replaced the door weather strips. Then the 15 lb solenoids wouldn't release so I ordered some 35 lb. solenoids from "Rocky Hinge" company in Ohio. The new slolenoids worked great at first and the passenger door still releases with authority but the one on the driver side is lazy and weak. Seemed to go weak almost right away,( I put the new ones in about six months ago) but I haven't used the car much due to undergoing a complete refurbishing. Maybe I just got one bad solenoid?

Switch sides and see if they work that way.
