I have heard of people having the heads shaved & my Question is would it do any good by shaving the Heads. Would this give you more compression could someone help me clear this up. Thanks

Shaving the heads will add compression but can cause clearance problems. On a stock motor, changing the compression one point on 320hp motor will only add 20 or so horsepower but could cause you to need higher octane fuel. It probably won't cause piston/valve clearance unless you take alot off but can cause problems if you have quench style heads. You can change your compression ratio with the same heads by using thinner head gaskets than what you have on it.

78 monty 305 heads use a differnt bolt pattern for the exaust manifolds. just found that out when I took the 305 out of my 85 short bed

406 you are right.But its just an extra bolt hole in front of the normal hole,headers should bolt right up.(At least my 82/305s were like that anyway)Maybe they changed um?
