Shift Kit - Rebuild

How hard is it to put a shift kit in a 904 or 727 Mopar trans? And is rebuilding these tranny's something best left to the pros, or can a regular joe do it at home in the garage? Special tools? any info or suggestions are welcome! Thanks in advance... Not quite sure how long before i can get back.
