Shift Shaft Seal Tool

The shift shaft seal in my C-4 Transmission is leaking a lot, so I am going to replace it. My question is - will either the GM or Mopar external tool work? I really don't want to drop the pan if I don't have to. An earlier thread talked about the tool being used on a TH-350, but made no mention of the C-4 or other Ford tranny.

the shift linkage design on the C4 trans requires the pan & valve body to be removed to install a new seal.
