Post shifter cable

how far in front of the shifter should you drill the hole in the floor for the cable,its a 400 tubo with a hurst quarter stick.thanks jeff

I installed a Hurst V-Matic in my '31 Ford. There was a rubber grommet that the cable goes through to protect it from the hole you cut in the floor. As I recall the bushing is just past the shifter mounting bracket. If all else fails, assemble the entire deal out on your workbench, then you can see measure where the hole should be drilled and transfer it to the floorpan.

The key is to make sure the cable isn't in a bind.
