Column or floor shift?

My 62 column shift has an "L" shaped rod that goes from the frame to the "U" shaped bracket on the tranny. Unbolt it from the frame and slip it out.

Its a column shift. Theres no place to unbolt it. The rod on the frame is welded(both ends). All connections are welded. I tried taking the nut off( the one that lets the shaft come out on TH350) but to no avail. Im stumped and I really dont want to start cutting and grinding but if thats the only way.

First....a 64 didn't come with a Turbo350, it had a Powerglide.....

That nut will come off and the linkage will come off.

Its a powerglide I was just adding the TH350 as a reference to the nut I was talking about. I took that nut off and it wouldnt move. I didnt pry on it didnt know what damage that might do.
