Post Shifting idea's

I am hoping someone who knw more about tranny's than I do will help me diagnose this problem.

Tranny a 700R4 shifted fine all day long untill all the sudden it decided it won't shift untill 3500, or higher sometimes. Doesn't matter whether you are on the hard acceleration or not it just shifts to darn high all the time. A buddy spoke of a teflon seal around the main drum that often times gets torn or knicked when the main drum is installed causing a loss of fluid pressure around the shift solonoid. Makes sense to me but would like other opinions as well.

89' 1/2 ton GMC with 350 bolted to 700R4 with lockup converter 4 speed.

cable could have puled valve inside tranny and is stuck, try unhooking cable at throtle body and drive truck but dont use hard throtle if it shifts until cable is reattched, one other thing try snap throtle with or without engine runing, sometimes that works, good luck.

Thanx toymobile, but the trans is electronic shifted so it doesn't even have a throtte valve or kick down cable. Only two cables to be exact. One for throttle and one for cruise control.

Dudes at local trans shop think the entire 2nd and 4th gear clutches and bands are toast. Says the truck shifts high to compensate for the 2nd gear miss shift. I dunno what to think now. Found another trans for $300 today. Probably just do the swap. I've never rebuilt a auto before. So I'm a little hesitant to dig in her myself.
