Shine announced on the SPI forum that he resigned from this forum.
The lacquer thread got him p'd off pretty bad.
I asked him not to leave, but.......

It makes me mad that some loser can come on here and chase the
good guys off. We shouldn't let them win.

Sorry, jcclark, I spoke too soon. I saw him on this morning and looking at this thread also, and assumed that he didn't leave.

I saw that "new" lacquer thread and saw Shine's original post in it. I didn't think it was all that bad of a post, and wasn't bad at all, considering who started the thread and the subject matter.

I saw he edited out his post after Centerline made a comment about being civil. (something centerline isn't always so good at himself), but I didn't think that would make Shine take off.

I hope Shine comes back. He is one of the good guys.

Later, Mikey

I don't understand that. ONE guy posts a couple of threads that I don't like and I sure as heck ain't going to leave. It just isn't a big deal. There was some interesting things to discuss on that thread, say your piece and EDUCATE. If the POSTER doesn't want to listen, so what, there are MANY lurkers reading it, EDUCATE them!

It just isn't that big of a deal.

Brian

When you get older,You quite feeding hay to dead horses.
Members like Shine will only beat their "head" on the post so many times and are quick to realize,"They don't want to KNOW." The TRUTH hurts and some just don't like it.The older you get,The LESS you want to "prove" anything,so let them do what they want and figure it out themselves.
I know where he is and I'm "about" as old but I still listen to what he has to say cause he's been there, done it. I have not so, I'm the better for sage advice.
See your back drifter. Cool.

Maybe a few PMs will change his mind, I for one will sure miss his wit and sense of humor not to even mention all the good advice he has to offer. I don't post much in the body section but I do read a lot and I followed those ridiculous Lacquer threads which I am SURE served to turn people away from using that junk Dupli-Color crap instead of selling the stuff. Not sure what that guy was trying to prove but I think it was more of an attempt to convince himself more so than someone else. Shine's replies IMO were not at all out of line but apparently something sure got him riled up.

I hear the part about feeding hay to dead horses...Now if some guy wants to be dumb I will just let him be.. As far as this laquer deal even the 100 point resto guys are going to urethane as the owners get tired of re-paints and maintenance on laquer..

I have an object lesson on laquer in my drive..a 71 Cad..the original laquer looked good for a lot of years as long as it stayed in the garage..it was moved out of the garage 2-3 years ago and the paint is just flat gone..Now it will get urethane in a collor similar to original..

Anyway I am not feeding any dead horses..

Sam

i answered the mans question in a pm. if someone has a question or needs help i will be glad to help all i can in a pm. BUT i am done arguing with arm chair quarterbacks. it seems like every time someone needs help it turns into another 20 dollar paint gun and 30 dollar paint thread and how easy it is. i have been doing this since before i was in high school so i do know a little about it. i don't know it all nor do i claim to. i enjoy debating with experienced painters because we can always learn from each other. i have 2 corvettes and a 56 chevy in my shop now and limited time to visit the sites i am a member on . that stupid lacquer thread should have gone to the dump where it belongs. to base one's opinion on one of those stupid shows is just idiotic . shows and magazines are for selling products. my favorite site has no moderators and does not need any. the members see to it that bs threads go away. we are more interested in the quality of the threads instead of the number of them. as i said i'll peek in from time to time and help anyone who needs it but no more pissing matches for me.

yall have a nice day now..........smile every chance ya get. makes ya purtier
