Shock Absorber options for a 59 Suburban

After a trip to the local Autoparts store I'm left trying to figure out where I can find a heavy duty shock for my Suburban. The shock they spec'd from Monroe is the same as a short bed 1/2 ton. This seems weird.

Has anyone found a better shock?

A 4 link would be nice but I don't have the $1300 for that now....

what do you call a heavy duty shock? Bilstein and other companies offer shocks based on length/shaft diameter/valving,mounting them is just a matter of fabricating a bracket
