Shock Question?
Hi all I have a question regarding front shock mounting, if I use the mounts on my four bar that will put my shocks mounted to the front of my car and if I rotate my mounts inward then I run into interferance with other obstacles , so was wandering if I don't use the mounts on the bottom of the perch bolts and make a mount off the bat wing that should provide the room I need just was not sure if the bat wing would handle the abuse of a shock. If your in question of my problem check my journal out and yes this car will be a full fendered 1926 model-t when done any help or pics of any one's projects would be great. thanks

The lower four bar mount bolt on a straight axle is going the wrong direction to mount a shock. It will bind up a shock when the car leans... Also you will probably have interference from the tie rod when the car turns. The cutout in the batwing is there to clear the tie rod.
Use the lower shock mounts you have ...they work. (I looked at your journal) Later, Mikey

powerrodsmike, I checked my clearance with my tie rods left to right I think it should work , if I use the mounts on the axle I will have my shocks right out in front for all to see they are not hidden that way and if they are rotated toward the back there is not enough room for them to work , I guess I'm confused as how a shock can get in a bind wheather it is mounted in the front or rear of the axle.

Also you should consider that your shock will be installed in a much more vertical position using the 4 bar bolt as a mount...this will make the car ride stiff in front. Do what you want, the fact that those perch bolt mounted shock mounts are used on so many cars is a testament to the fact that they work. I suggest that you do as I have done in the past...remove the spring and move the front axle through it's travel with the shocks and panhard bar installed to see what I'm talking about. Later, mikey
