Guy's I need your help with this. I own a auto repair shop thats called Highland Lakes Auto Care that is located in the Highland Lakes shopping center, hence the name of my shop. Well the shopping center is getting a makeover and we all have to purchase new signs. I have never liked the name of my shop, so getting the price for my new sign makes me think this is a great time for a new name. (sign cost $4350.00+)

So my question is what should I name it? My name is Steve, so I was thinking of Steve's Auto Care. But I don't know about the whole name it after me thing. So any and all suggestions would be great. BTW it is located in Northville Michigan.

you may be on to something. use a totally fictitious name, like, dave. or something. so when an irate person shows up and asks, for dave, well, he's not here man.

no i'm not...... there is a bbq shop here, named after a guy. the guy it's named after, has nothing, never has had, anything to do with the bbq place....???? can you do that? name your business after another individual?

Being as my favorite beer is Highlands I kinda like the name.

I think Highland Lakes Auto Service Center or some variation of that sounds a little more professional than Steve's Auto repair.
Maybe Northville Automotive in bold letters and Service Center under it.

Naming and designing a sign for our store was a PITA, good luck.

I like 428's suggestion of the Highland Lakes Auto Service Center. It has some class w/o being too pretentious.

Steve's Car Repair (to me) sounds like a back alley operation whose owner wears a plaid sport coat and striped pants...hope you don't. LOL

I agree with 428ho and MI2600 on the Steve's auto care. Sounds like I should be in bib overalls and chewing a big cud of chew, scratching my crotch. But to spell out HLAC is costly and I don't really care for the name. I also want to move into my own building after my 5 year lease is up so I will be HLAC in Northville without being in the HL shopping center.

My sons name is Mark but I call him sparky most of the time. So I was also thing something with mark or sparky in it (I hope one day he will take the business over, but he is not quite 3 years old now.) What about E&M Auto, after my daughter Emily and my son Mark.

What about someting like Professional Auto Service? Or, Great Lakes Auto Repair?

How about "A to Z Professional Auto". Gets it out there that you do it all A-Z, you're professional, and if you are listed in the yellow pages you'll be one of the first shops listed alphabetically in the listing.
