Short to long water pump for early sbc
Is it possible to use a long water pump instead of the short water pump on my 1977 Corvette? I am planning on converting to an electric cooling fan system. Is there more to the short and long pumps other than just their length from the block?

Thats the only difference that I know of.

You would have to also change pulleys and brackets for the alternator and A/C compressor. You can do it but I see NO ADVANTAGE to it ... Why do you want to go from a short to a long ... most folks want to go the other way to gain room at the front of the engine.

The only advantage I see, is that you get to use a shorter belt on the alternator.........also, easier access to fill PS pump.
The alternator has to go to the other side, different brackets and all different pulleys.
