Our method of producing required calicium carbide and a arc furnace, with a temp of 3000 (C). It's a tricky process, and very dependent on the same grade of calcium carbide.

One doesn't put calcium carbide IN an arc furnace to make acetylene, the carbide itself is produced in an arc furnace.
