Hi all i was wondering how restrictive using shorty 1 5/8 headers on my 383 chev was. Im considering purchasing long tube headrs how much of a gain could i expect?The car is an 82 camaro so putting on long tubes with dual exhaust is quiote a pain would it b worth it?The engine is quite built solid roller 208 vic jr heads 850 holley etc etc thanks in advance.P. car is street driven ocasionaly.

with a 383 that is breathing that much i would recommend getting full length tuned headers. and if you can lift the car putting them in is no problem. and what you can expect from the full length tuned headers is a noticable comparison to the shortys. are they wrapped or ceramics? and if you do go with full lengths get them ceramic coated to help push out the hot exhaust. the key to a succesful engine is letting it breathe. and pushing the exhause out is just as essential as letting fuel/air in. also if you go with duals (which you should) make sure that you do a cross pipe and make the left bank tube go out the right side of the car and the right bank out the left. the reason being if you keep banks on the same side one pipe is going to be longer therefore making it harder for that side to push out the exhaust. just advice. good luck
