Should i NOS or not?

OK, heres the deal, im rebuilding a 66, stock 289. I was wondering if i should add NOS or not. its going to be an everyday driver, but i wasnt sure if adding NOS would just kill my engine in no time. When i rebuild my engine, is there anything i can do so that NOS wouldnt hurt it, or is it always gonna put alot of stress on the engine no matter what parts i use? I wouldnt be using the nos all the time, just little bursts from time to time.

Nitrous would be okay as long as you used a low horsepower boost, a powershot should be okay. you may want to upgrade your ignition system also, as nitrous hits the cylinder at minus 128 degree`s, many years ago I seen neglect the ignition and was spraying 300 horses to it, it cost him 3 engines before he figured out what the problem was. also, there`s no such thing as a full time nitrous system, there meant for use in bursts for very short periods and only at wide open throttle.

When i said i would just be using it time to time, i didnt meant to imply that the nitrouse would be running all teh time (all though that would be pretty cool) I just meant that i wouldnt be using it that often. Meaning i wouldnt go down the block everynight pushing the Nitrous.

A buddy of myn has a 66 Chevelle drag car with 434 stroker big cam,compression.. etc he runs NOS fogger (I think it's Sportsman fogger?? He has it set on 150hp and shoots it directly in the intake. But it's full time when the system is on.. As he shifts gears it pours on what is needed or so he said.
