Then mount the bucket seats to the floor, gaining me 2" of head room from the floor + additional inches depending on the seat (stock 54 seats are thick and very high off the floor).

I also seem to (vaugely) remember the seat in my '57 Chev 210 as being fairly tall. Would you be able to see over the dash in a Cavalier seat ? Just wondering.
