showcar Clearcoat ppg or dupont

Its been a few years since I have painted and curious what clear coats are typically used on show cars now. I moved and only have a ppg dealer close by now. They are trying to sell me a 2021 clear but the papers say its just a standard oem clear. I have used dupont in the past with real good results and could drive out of town to get it if I have too. Money is not a concern when it comes to the clear but I dont want to dump 400$ on a gallon of clear if the cheap 2021 will look the same after wet sanding. The paint people at PPG here are worth about 2 dead flys Im not sure they know half the products they sell, they told me all their clears are showcar quality and they told me all their clears are the same. I asked for a high solids clear and they said there is no difference between something called their expensive glamor clear and the 2021.

Maybe I should just go back to dupont and play it safe.

I'm not very big on big names anymore but if givin a choice I'd always take dupont over PPG.The last job I did with chroma clear still looks like it was painted last week and it was 11 years ago.But I do have a choice and Ive found a superior clear from a smaller company called SPI its every bit as good as the big names and in some ways far better,it buffs like glasurat,it sprays like sherwood williams 7000 and has a durable shine like dupont ,I know it sounds to good to be true but for 200.00 for two sprayable gals it simply cant be beat, they'll send it to you or you can call their hotline anytime.theres VERY few companies I'll recomend these days but this is one for sure.BTW I've been painting for 35 yrs
