Look in the middle of the passenger side of the block, it will be a vertical number saying something like D1VE, C8VE, D7VE, etc..... If the exhaust manifold is on it you probably won't see it. Ok that wasn't a intake number, my bad, but i knew it wasn't a block casting number. I heard of that number before but needed some refreshing when you put a picture of it up. About five or six months ago I sold two 460 timing covers and one of them had that exact same number on it. That engine came out of a 77 F250, had a D1VE block casting number, D3VE heads, D6TE rods and a C8SE timing cover.

BTW if you are looking at sb Ford casting numbers they will be down by the starter. A FE engine should be on the drivers side by the oil filter and a 429-460 will be in the middle of the block on the passenger side.

I don't know about the other manufacturers but Ford used the same timing cover for years, that's why that isn't a good source for dating. I think they only made 2 FE timing covers ( maybe 3, the very first ones may have been stamped steel), aluminum and with only a couple of #'s. The same is true of most other engines,SB and BB.
