302 ford continued!!

My engine is a 302 H.O rebuilt about 15,000 miles ago its all stock except for the edelbrock performer intake and carb it will roast the rear tires as of now but it needs more power. When i drag it and get to 3rd it boggs down. I think 3rd is my tallest gear. I can take 2nd gear all the way to about 35 mph from there in third i can go all the way to 60 mph then i hit overdrive also what would be a safe shift piont in rpm's. usualy i can take it to 4500 only when i drag. Thanks

It sounds like you have a 4 speed? If so then you are shifting it wrong. If 3rd is your tallest gear then you need to modify your shifting. It should be 1-2-4-3. You need to start using the "square" shift pattern instead of the more typical "H" shift pattern............
