69 Pontiac YH 428 for sale!

This post was blatant advertising. Since drewhelm has not posted since February of 2006, I am deleting the information.

I responded to your post. I believe initial should be set at 8-10 BTDC at idle with the vacuum advance disconnected and plugged. Total timing should not be more than 34 degrees all in around 2000 rpms.

By the way, have you checked on truck freight shipping costs? I called acround to multiple freighters and the least expensive other than forward air was over $350 shipped to a terminal. Forward air is very inexpensive for what they ship. If I could go any lower I would.

Zombie Threads

I had a 390HP 428 several yrs. ago. Dropped it in a 76TA with custom stainless solid mounts. Ran strong for several 1/4mi passes. Blipped the throttle to about 3000rpm on starting line, crank broke in half, sent 2 rods through the oil pan, nocked 2 nice holes in the crossmember also.
