305 Exhaust

Im re-building a 454 for my 79 C10, but for the time being i have a 305 in its place. Ive got a set of 2.5" pipes 36" long and magnaflow mufflers i used only for about an hour on the 454 last time i had it running. Can i use those on this 305 with its headers or will it be too much? I dont really want to spend any money on this 305 that i dont have to (like for glasspacks or something)

The exhaust pipes and mufflers will work just fine.

that 305 actually likes that 2.5. It'll run on that setup forever. that 454 will like it better.

I forgot to mention its a 36" section of 2.5" pipe off of each header (so its dual exhaust and not single exhaust). Dont know if i gave enough info to pick up on that or not. There arent any tail pipes, but im considering some turndowns behind the mufflers to keep from turning the underside of the truck black.

I ran some turn downs under my 80 short bed I didn't care for the resonance but you should be fine until you get you big block together. When it gets a little nicer I'm seriously thinking of putting my big block back in my 83 with the 3.73 12bolt I kept form the 80. Have fun and keep us informed.

The 2.5 is too big for the 305, especially in a truck. That said, it will work just fine, no sense in spending money on it!
