68 camaro engine swap small to big block

I know this is probably going to get some laughs so here goes , I have a 68 Camaro that came from the factory with a 327 and I'm replacing it with a 502 . My question is are the motor mounts in a different location with a big block ? There aren't any other bolt holes to move the motor mounts on the cross member and I would have guessed GM would use the same crossmember , but before I try to put the motor in , I thought I would ask some of you crafty veterans to shed a little light on this before I try this the hard way. Any other pitfalls you guys can help me with would be greatly appreciated . I have changed my coil springs and gone completely through the front end with all new stuff , but I'm sure I'm forgetting something-----thanks a bunch///Tony

The motor will bolt up to the small block mounts but the factory used different frame stands to move the motor over 1" to gain clearance for the gear box. Big blocks also have a different heater core and cover to clear the valve cover. Also, if your car has power brakes the driver side valve cover has a relief notched in the back.

Traby,
I have a 68 camaro that came with a sbc and I went to a bbc. If you need any advice pm me or email. As stated above from 69Nova The frame mounts are different for a sbc and a bbc. I think it also pulls it fwd a little. If you have p/w steering and headers I would ensure i have a good steering box before I put everything together. I ended up having to grind down a bolt head on my steering box to keep it off the header.

The big-block cars also used a different transmission crossmember to match the rightward relocation of the engine. They're only listed for manual trans and Turbo 400 applications, since Turbo 350's and Powerglides were not fitted to big-block engines by the factory.

Big-block front springs are a bit taller to deal with the extra ~150# of engine weight. As you suspected, the sub-frame's the same.
