Hi,
There is no difference in the lifters on a 216 they are solids,
I don't know what you have there, but you can't mix solid & hydraulic lifters.

Why are you using this engine anyway, they have a lousy oiling system, & are under powered, a much better design of this engine is available in different CID 235,250,261 all had pressurized oiling systems, a better head, & a lot more power, and for most models almost a direct bolt in.

I agree, there are better alternatives with this engine family. Actually, the 250 is not part of that same engine family, it belongs to the 194,230 and 292 engine group and didn't come into production until after 1962. And as for the oiling system for the Stovebolts, the 235 didn't recieve pressurized oiling until the 1953 Powerglide engines, the 261 was strictly a truck engine and always had the pressurized oiling. So, all early 235's before 1953 still had the non pressurized oiling like the 216's. You can check out Patrick's Antiques website and get full details on how to distinguish the 1953 and later blocks, as well as the catsing #'s for blocks and heads for these engines. Also, checkout www.inliner.org for all the technical stuff for the Stovebolts....

Hi,
I knew about the 235 pressurized syst not being available until after 53, but didn't worry about it because your chances of finding one aren't as high as finding one built after 53, as most
were thrown away when swapped, or are still being used.
At any rate, the 216 is a pos, & any of the newer engines would greatly improve his car.
