91 chev 350 small block Question

Ok guys I got a question here... I have a 91 Chevy small block in a caprice that is currently a 2 barrel throttle body injected..that i am toying with the idea of putting it in a 1978 monte carlo.... my question is this... what all is it going to take to make this thing carberated.. will the intake and distributor off of the older 70's 350 block fit? ... and as far as trans goes.. im not sure what kind of trans is it in ... it has over drive and buddy said he thinks it is a 700r4... does this sound about right?
If so is the trans electronic as well?... and if so what would i have to do to get away from not useing the computer out of the caprice in the monte carlo....

The older intakes will fit but only if you modify the 4 center bolts. They are at a different angle than the rest of the intake bolts. However, you may as well just order a aftermarket intake that corrects this problem. Slotting intake bolt holes don`t work real well if it`s not machined correctly.
Next you`ll need a older HEI distributor that has a mechanical and vacuum advance.
The 700R4 tranny can be used but you`ll have to modify the cross member so the tranny mount matches up. You`ll likely also need to have the driveshaft cut to the correct lenth and rewelded. You can run the tranny as is but you`ll have to have a large aftermarket tranny fluid cooler. Without the computers command the torque converter won`t lock up which makes the tranny build up heat and it won`t last long. Heat is the number 1 killer of automatics. Or you can order a lockup kit from summit or jegs, if you go this route I would still recommend a tranny cooler as the stock cooler doesn`t do a real good job. If the car came with a serpentine belt system and you plan to use V belts you`ll need a standard rotation coolant pump. If you plan performance mods to this engine keep in mind the heads are the limiting factor, they are the swirl port jobs that are great for a low end torque daily driver, but since the swirl vane restricts flow they run out of breath by 4000 rpm.

you don't need a lockup kit for lockup to work. basically all you need is a bosch relay and a switch
