89 TBI heads?
Bought a 67 camino with a "fresh" 350 in it. FOund out today that it has 2 different 305 heads.... so i yanked them... My neighbor has a complete 89 350 in his garage. he says i can have those heads in trade for some tranny work... My question is. How are these TBI heads? i have read a few posts that said these were garbage.... i look at their signatures and they are running near race motors....
This will be a daily driver with a .465/.465 cam .... I don't need race car statsu but i don't need a slow piece of crap ! Just looking for opinions. Also thinking of going to the junkyard and looking for some vortecs maybe? Or just some decent 350 heads? I dunno... Anyone in Orange county Ca that wants to trade a demon625 carb, ps3 or some cash for some working heads? Register now (free) or login to remove ads |

TBI heads are swirl vane heads. Pop the valve spring and remove the intake valve, look in the bowl and you`ll see what I mean. These heads are great for a daily driver low end torque mileage getter. But since the swirl vane restricts flow so much they are out of breath at 4000 RPM, making them useless for a performance engine.
