92 350 truck engine carb/fuel pump
Just a couple of questions, maybe real simple answers but I have no idea. The engine was a TBI. I bought a performer intake.and I'm getting an Edelbrock 1406. The engine is basically stock has an RV cam since this originally had an electric fuel pump, does the crankshaft (2bolt) have the provisions to run a mechanical pump? There is a hole in the block where the pushrod would go. Or should I just get an electric fuel pump? Do you think the 600cfm carb would be too much? Also I seem to remember the early Camaros had a mechanical fuel pump with a return line stub on it does that sound right?.
Thanks all for any insight, I have heard also I'll need the tuning kit for the carb. Thanks again Eric Register now (free) or login to remove ads |

The block should have the provision. All you need is the plate that bolts on to the block that the fuel pump mounts to and the fuel pump push rod. Remember also on the front of the block by the balancer there is 2 bolts, one on top of the other, make sure the top opening has a short bolt installed, otherwise it`ll leak oil.

What do the 2 holes on the front of the block do? Or will it be real evident once I see it. I did find the listing for a mounting plate and the pushrod.Any thoughts on the fuel pump with the return? I can't remember what they were intended to do. I don't recall if it was to ease hot starting and heat soak or maybe just to sell something different. What do you think about the carb? Does it sound about right size wise? I was looking at the 500 but they seem less available and not as many out there for info on tuning. Thanks for the info you provided. Eric

Return line
Your truck is plumbed for a return line so you might as well use a mechanical pump that has a return line capability. If you go with a mechanical fuel pump you should go in the tank and remove the electric pump but keep the rubber clamp and make up a length of tube with a fine mesh screen around it that will sit as low in the tank as the electric pump did. Mine works awesome except that now I roar around getting bad milege because it goes way better than the goofy 4.3 I replaced LOL
