37 chevy 216/6cyl

Is there anything you can do to get more power out of a 37 chevy 6 or should I just upgrade?Will the car be worth less if I upgrade everything motor,rear end,front end ???

not really much of anything you can do for it.. split the manifold, bump the compression but thats about it... upgrade to a 235, will look much the same, more power tho

and if you get a late model 235, it has better oiling, instead of slapper spoons!
a 235 will render the same price as a 216..

Hi,
Yes you can get more power but not from that engine, an easy up grade is to swap the 216 for a 235 from a 55 to 63, it's basically the same engine w/more power & cubes & then you can visit in liners or 6=8 for more power options.

PS If you think the engine up grade will lower the value of the car, just keep the 216 & let it go with the car if you were to sell it. Ya know you can also change the trans, torque tube, & rear without a lot of problems, chevy love or s10 rear, synchronized trans., & again save the old stuff in-case you decide to sell
