86 Fiero 2.8L wont start. Ignition related.

I have a 86 Pontiac Fiero Se. 2.8L 4 speed.

The car has no spark.

It has a new cap, rotor, wires, plugs, ignition module and ignition coil. I was told on these that if you cranked it and the tach did not move, most likely the problem would be the pickup coil.

When i turn the key on the tach moves from the lowest position up to "0 rpms" Then during cranking it goes back down the the lowest position, below "0 rpms". I assume this means my pickup is bad. What do you all think? Thanks

Ok. If all that checks out good, you think the pickup coil could be the culprit?

I would check for power at the coil while cranking. If the tack goes back to rest in the same place while cranking as with the key off, it would seem you may have a power while cranking issue.
What does that Fiero have,is it an HEI style or an external coil style.
If it is external coil my WIKI article may help. It is geared to a point style but really the theory is the same
