40 Ford door lock; screw broken off, remove housing?
I see what appears to be a screw with the head broken off looking thru the round hole in the passenger door frame. Worse yet, looks like a drill bit is broken off in the center of the screw. I'm guessing the round housing which holds the lock cylinder was factory welded to the door? Door is finish painted and I wish I could take that round housing out and work on it without stressing the door.

I have no answers for you, but it sure brings back memories. I had one of those that the screw wouldn't come out. Did the old heating with a torch and cooling it trick. Yep, I am not kidding, thru that little hole I stuck the torch tip in there and quickly heated that little set screw and cooled it. The screw unscrewed right out.
I don't remember a thing about it as far as what to tell you to do at this point, sorry. Brian |
