how do you install starter shims on chevy pu

1st I'd make sure you have the correct starter for the flywheel that's on the truck, if it's the right one....... what's it doing? Hitting the flywheel, not releasing, dragging..... basicly put a shim between the starter and the engine block, torque to specs and see if you still have the orig issue... repeat as ness, but if the tooth count on the flywheel doesn't match your starter, no amount of shims will fix it.
