650 avs dies with left hand turn

I have a 454 peanut port in my 65 impala, engine is GM crate, no mods, just edelbrock performer intake, and 650 avs carb. timing is good, 700r45, 4.11 rearend.

Here is current issue; acts like its going to die when I turn left, the car and all my clothes smell like fuel all the time. stumbles a 'little' when I take off from stop. I have checked the plugs, they all look clean and good. no leaks in fuel lines. I have checked the carb adjustments with a vacuum gauge to about 18. any advice on how to not smell like I didn't just dump gas all over myself?

The smell is the gasoline over vapourizing. A common issue with AFB AVS carbs.

Its a carb heat management issue. Install a wooden carb spacer under the carb to reduce the heat soak issue. Block off any heat riser passage at the intake manifold. The fuel line must be routed away from heat.
The mechanical fuel pump should have a heat isolation gasket between it and the block. www.sealsit.com

The fuel float level is either too high or too low. The fuel pressure is a bit too high. 5 PSI idle fuel pressure is the max you need.

Fuel smell- carb heat soak:

This is why newer cars have a fuel vapour recovery/purge system w/ charcoal canister and return lines.

do you think I will be ok with the wooden carb spacer? I have zero clearance for anything else between the cleaner and the hood.
