400 SBC Build

Hello guys and if any gals,

I am seeking out help on a project I am in the middle of. I purchased a 1993 truck that had been so badly overheated it cracked both heads. So for the cost of rebuild I found a steal of a 400 sbc freshly rebuilt with 0 miles and 350 heads(non vortech). After looking at prices it is cheaper for me to run vortech heads on this 400 and keep the existing fuel injection and headers. the 400 is bored .30 over and Im not sure what size cam it is(im replacing anyway). I want something pretty mild. The heads are 350 vortech angled plug.

Any suggestions, concerns, comments, help??

What injection system are you referring to? If you mean the stock TBI system don't waste your time as it would require alot of work in the computer as a 400 is 50 cubic inches larger. If your referring to a factory vortec injection system the computer will have to be reflashed and alot of other mods.

Thanks. I was wondering if it would be able to keep up. Guess Ill be saving the $ on the vortech heads and going to a carb. 650 or 750?? What would be a good set up for this engine? I am not looking to go to big on the hp.

If you use a mild near stock cam the factory efi can work if you bump up fuel pressure by about 20% its not perfect but it will work.
