241 vs 781 big block head
Hi, ive got a set of 781 oval port big block chevy heads. they are rebuilt although they have been sitting in a rust prone garage for 20 years so they need a cleaning. A guy i know has a set of 241 large oval ports that the machinist said are ready to run as is complete with valves springs etc. mine are bare. The machinist said the 781 is suited better for low end torque while the 241 is a more high revving head... are the 241's decent, i think they came stock on the 72 ls5 chevelle 454 engine?? the guy wants to trade so i figured id ask about it on here first. Any info would be appreciated, thanks!

Your 781's are a better street head. The 241's have soft exhaust seats. 781's have hardened seats for modern gas and better flow numbers..
