12 bolt chev carrier swap

Hi I have a '66 chev impala with a 12 bolt rearend, 3.08 with welded spider gears, 200r4 trans. I want to swap it out for a higher ratio, Im thinking 3.55, or 3.73, mini spool. Just wanted to see if anyone has a done this before where a good place to buy the parts would be? Thanks.

I would think either Summit Racing or Jegs would be the best place to buy performance rear end components

You might look at randys ring and pinion.

Mini Spools aren't recommended for use on Pavement, just in case you don't know. If it's offroad dirt a Mini Spool is Ok. A Locker type Carrier or Power Trax locker for your Open Carrier may be a better idea. Either can be dangerous on wet pavement in a street car. A Clutch type Posi Carrier is better for street use.

I know they're arent for pavement, but it wouldnt be any different from welded spider pinions. Im just gonna change the ring+pinion and leave the spider/side gears as is.
